iPhone Made for More

If we were represented as an iPhone, the applications would represent all the important things in our lives; and each individual person would have very different applications specific to his or her lifestyle. But if we were to create an iPhone that embodies a young adult of today's culture, what would it contain? School, career, money, of course. Facebook and YouTube for sure. Partying, Drugs, Sex, Luxury. All these things have become the norm for the young adults of our society.

But is this really what life's all about? We were not made for any of these things, but we were made for more.

There is something more we should apply our lives to. Something more beyond what we see, feel, or can obtain. More represents our spiritual life, our purpose for living, the reason we were created. It has absolutely nothing to do with what this world can offer but has everything to do with what God has given us and wants for us.

We were made for more.

DISCIPLE: One who accepts the teachings of a master and often assists in spreading them

The UBF Young Disciples are disciples of Jesus Christ. We are young men and women who are of college age seeking to grow in our knowledge and understanding of our Lord and Savior, seeking to learn how to live as a disciple and what it takes to be a disciple.

The college age is the beginning of adulthood, a time where many of us are preparing to make an impact on the real world, and a time where many of us will get a taste of what the real world is like. It is at this time we must lay the foundations of our faith in order for us to powerfully carry on the work of God for the rest of our lives.

We have heard Jesus' commands to love our Father in Heaven, to show love to our neighbors, and to serve others as servants of God. We have also heard his great commision:

"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." - Matthew 28:19-20 NIV

By God's grace we seek to live as disciples of Jesus Christ.

YOUNG DISCIPLE CONFERENCE 2010

The 2009-2010 Young Disciples Conference will be hosted by the young disciples of Chicago and Toledo UBF, held near Toledo at Camp Michindoh (http://www.campmichindoh.org/).

Our theme this year is, "Made for More." At the conference, we will consider God's vision for us to live a deeper and higher life. Our culture's tenets are a self-centered world view and materialism; more and more, we find many young people confused about how and why to live. We want to devote three days to hear from God what we were made for.

At the conference, young disciples will have time for fellowship with other young disciples, and time for fellowship with God through prayer and writing their new year's key verse testimony.
